“The Brave” – New Movie from Diney-Pixar
Courageous and defiant, ready to fight to save his kingdom from evil forces. Merida is the princess, star of “Rebel – The Brave”, the new Pixar movie that just came out in USA and come with us on September 5. Pixar is a studio known for its tendency to tell stories suitable for everybody, always associated with profound themes that can be fully understood only by older children, but told with a fun and colorful style that children can appreciate. Among his most famous films include “Toy Story” and “Monsters Inc.” and “Finding Nemo”.
This time, the center of the film, written and directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, there is a story that is told in women almost never: the relationship between a mother and her teenage daughter. All this against a backdrop of lush medieval Scotland, including spells, witches, archery competitions and dynastic plots. It is the first time that Pixar creates a fantasy film and the first time a film has as its protagonist a girl. And there are others who speak of Merida as a new generation of Disney princesses, much declined in modern times: no more than a candid and innocent “damsel in distress” that awaits the providential intervention of the Prince Charming of the moment, but a real and his heroine in the round, which accepts responsibility for his actions and sets out to rescue his loved ones.
At the beginning of the film, we see Merida struggling with an ancient custom of his rule: anyone who wins an archery contest will have the right to marry. But she is there and impulsively agrees to a witch for a spell that would melt any liability. Of course the witch cheats Merida and then learns a lesson: you can not escape from responsibility, even if you can draw your own path in life in a unique way. A moral is never moralistic and especially to keep pace with the times, as expected from the largest study of U.S. animation.
